Sigma Xi Leadership Center: Leaders Home

Mission Statement: To enhance the health of the research enterprise, foster integrity in science and engineering, and promote the public's understanding of science for the purpose of improving the human condition.

With more than 240,000 living initiates and 520 chapters around the world, Sigma Xi members dedicate their lives to the highest standards of ethics and improving our global society. The Sigma Xi Leadership Center is designed to assist our initiates in fulfilling the pledge they voluntarily assumed upon election to membership:

"Do you hereby pledge yourself, in accordance with the purposes and objectives of Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society, to encourage original investigations in science, to foster companionship and cooperation among scientists, to maintain honor, integrity and honesty in all scientific activities, and to assume the other continuing responsibilities of membership?"

Whether a member is affiliated with a chapter or at-large, Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society provides this online resource to assist the member in identifying opportunities to provide volunteer scientific leadership in their community and around the world. The Society has built partnerships with a number of organizations that share our commitment to “improving the human condition” and some of those volunteer openings can be found on this site.

If your organization would like to submit a request for Volunteers from Sigma Xi, please send us a request through our feedback form. After reviewing your submission for appropriateness, we will respond to you directly and all approved requests will be posted within two weeks.
